Lights of Leavenworth

by

Well known for its Bavarian-themed downtown and Alps-looking mountainous surroundings, Leavenworth is a lively city, with lots of things to do and see. It has a very colorful and cheerful personality. Although I’ve only been to Leavenworth a couple times, I know every nook and corner there. Vast wilderness and a variety of wildlife, wild rivers and trickling streams, and mountain meadows and alpine lakes greet visitors from all around. These are some of the natural trademarks of Leavenworth located in the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Known for its famous Christmas-lighting ceremonies, Leavenworth is undeniably magical in the wintertime. Leavenworth is also home to a scenic drive along Icicle Creek Road that travels 25 miles into Icicle Canyon on the edge of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. The terrain within the city consists of flat, valley floor surrounded by mountain peaks and valleys. There is also a river called Icicle River along Icicle Creek Road where there are multiple pull-offs with picturesque views of the towering canyon walls, jagged rocky peaks, and the winding river below.

When I think of Leavenworth, the first color that comes to my mind is pink. There are a lot of pink flowers there! I love how fresh they smell in the spring. I also really love the Bavarian features and intricate designs in the town of Leavenworth. Leavenworth in the summer is like a fantasy with thousands of flowers and colors. The last time I went to Leavenworth, it was with my cousins. There were a lot of interesting places and stores that we visited, and we had a fun time overall.

While most people think of Leavenworth as a tourist destination, to me it is so much more than that. It is home to a vibrant and active community of outdoor enthusiasts,

entrepreneurs, and artists and I hope everyone can appreciate Leavenworth as much as I do. I can’t wait to visit Leavenworth again soon!
