“GRANDMA, GRANDPA!!!!!!!!!”, I exclaimed. Grandpa Stans and Grandma Clarice were coming over. “Hello Gilda, how have you been?”, Grandma Clarice asked me. “GREAT!”, I answered. Whenever my grandparents came over, we would always make cookies. Especially on rainy days! “Mother! Father! Please, come and sit down. Linda will bring out the juice shortly”, Father stated. When Grandma and Grandpa settled down, we started to build up a conversation. Until…” Oh! Gilda! When we were getting ready to come over, we got a letter FOR YOU! The mailman got the wrong address, and the letter that was meant for you, was delivered to US! So, here it is! You might want to read it in your room…” Grandpa Stans then pulled out a letter and gave it to me. Curiously, I carefully opened the letter when I arrived at my room and read it.
Dear Gilda, July,18, 2008
“We are happy to announce you have won the Great Writing Speech Contest! As the judges, we have kept our word as, whoever wins 1st place, they get to write a special article in a magazine! Since you are the champion, you will be writing a passage in a magazine for kids at your age! The topic can be anything but imagine you are a mentor for other children, and you are sharing or teaching them something that may be useful in the future! Now, it is all up to you, Gilda. Your parents got an email. Congratulations once again, and hope you have a great rest of your day!”
I looked up from the letter. “MOM! DAD! GRANDMA! GRANDPA!! I WON!”, I shouted as I ran downstairs! “What?!”, mother said. “I got the offer to write an article! They also said you got an email!”, I explained excitedly. My mother took out her phone. “The email says the article should be sent by Tuesday. 2 days from now. So, honey, what are you going to write about?”

2 days later, Gilda and her parents went to the barber’s shop to trim Gilda and her father’s hair. When they arrived, it seemed to be they came an extra 10 minutes early and had to sit in the waiting area before the actual appointment. “Dad, I’m a bit bored…”, Gilda said. “Honey it hasn’t been even 5 minutes!”, her Father replied. He then took out a magazine. “Why don’t you search and look at things in this magazine with your mom?”, he said and handed me the magazine. I sighed and opened it. 2 minutes has already passed. I flipped over the pages until I saw MY article on page 24! “MOM! DAD! LOOK! IT’S MY WRITING PASSAGE!”
Article Title: What about YOU!?
“Hi! My name is Gilda Glam! And, if you are reading this, then in what great luck you are in now! You are even saving your eyes from the screen! Ever thought about your brain? What is it like in there? How does it work? What color would be? What would it FEEL like? What would it LOOK like? What would it SOUND like? How would it TASTE like? And lastly, how would it SMELL like? See what I did there? I used my 5 senses! Smell, touch, sight, hear, and taste. Did you know? Your brain has 86 BILLION neurons? Neurons are the ones that connect each of your thoughts and make it like a special network! For example, if you think you want a sleepover with me, then maybe I start thinking about what we could DO in the sleepover. See? The brain reacts quickly and connects what words, thoughts, or actions are given to you! That is how ideas generate. But there are 2 well-known sides of the brain. The subconscious mind is where all your beliefs, emotions, memory, skills, previous experiences, and everything you have seen is stored. Is held. Your conscious mind holds your memory, and what you are currently thinking, seeing, and talking about. Basically, the conscious mind is your present, and your subconscious mind is your past and it does have the power to be the future or present. You must train your mind to always think positive! Now, you know more about the brain, you can teach others, so more and more people will think positively and we can make the world, a better place! Remember, whatever you think, or talk with emotion, and repeat it, will, one day, become a REALITY. Meaning REAL LIFE and You must LIVE WITH IT for REST OF YOUR LIFE. You are the CREATOR of your own life, so be careful. Once again, this is Gilda Glam and I hope you have a great rest of your day!” -Gilda Glam, Age: (7)
